The Story Behind “The Feelings Teacher” Name?
When Ines was working in schools the Children often referred to her as “The Feelings Teacher” because she was the teacher who taught them about their feelings. The name stuck and when she founded her business in 2019 there was only one name for it. “The Feelings Teacher Ltd”.
Why Set Up as The Feelings Teacher?
Ines was frustrated to see the lack of understanding for those children who are unable to achieve their full potential due to a number of barriers both social, emotional and academic. Her initial work as The Feelings Teacher was as an outreach therapist and training provider for parents and childcare professionals.
Ines has developed an approach which combines the “Emotion Coaching” theory with “Restorative Practice”, which has proven to be successful for children both at school and at home. Ines has seen the frustration of parents and schools desperate for support for those children and young people that do not fit the criteria to access the services that they so desperately need.
Ines’s dream is to be able to support those that have been unable to access any help. She wants to work in collaboration with schools and agencies such as CAMHS and children’s services to enable the early interventions that have proven to make such a positive impact on so many children and young people’s lives.
Our Non-for-Profit Organisation
In 2020 Ines Gomes founded the Positive Community CIC. This is a branch of The Feelings Teacher which aims to provide support for families who cannot afford, but who would benefit enormously from, access to the service we can provide. The CIC also wants to provide support to local schools and children’s services.
